HVAC Construction Service Technician

Construction Service Technician is responsible for installation and start-up of new and existing commercial, industrial
and residential systems.

  • Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Position Duties:

  • Field hours are from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm Monday through Friday. Available to work overtime as needed tomeet project schedule deadlines.
  • Coordinate and communicate daily with the CSIM to ensure completion of daily work duties and follow through with additional material and tool requisitions to complete the assigned work.
  • Responsible to verify all rough-in items are complete before walls and ceilings are complete. The Construction Service Technician is also responsible for terminating wiring at controls and equipment.
  • Responsible for mechanical start-up and check-out and has the ability to properly troubleshoot any mechanical defects. The Construction Service Technician should be capable of making repairs as needed. The Construction Service Technician shall turn in all start-up sheets during or following project completion.
  • The Construction Service Technician is capable of running and completing service warranty calls in a timely and efficient manner.
  • The Construction Service Technician’s paperwork should be clear, complete and written in a way the customer will be able to understand.
  • The Construction Service Technician must be capable of communicating well with the customers and offering their expertise during owner training.
  • Provide support to the demand service team as needed.
  • Responsible for the mechanical quality control of the whole project including point to point check out and project close-out documents.
  • Responsible for showing up and actively participating in all mandatory training classes provided by Rogers & Sons.
  • Responsible for adhering to the dress code and ensuring all Technicians adhere to the same Rogers & Sons service dress code.
  • The Construction Service Technician will be able to manage their Company vehicle inventory accurately and maintain a presentable vehicle.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Performance Markers:

  • Training of field personnel to strengthen support for the department.
  • Projects coming in under budgeted service hours and under material estimates.
  • Quality of work and paperwork delivered to end user (Example: CSIM and office).
  • Amount of warranty call backs for assigned projects.
  • Customer satisfaction feedback.

Position Qualifications

  1. Education:

    • Minimum of High School diploma or GED
    • Completion of HVAC trade school preferred.
    • EPA 608 I & II preferred.
  2. Experience:

    • Minimum 4-5 years’ experience in the HVAC industry with advanced Troubleshooting abilities
    • Advanced understanding and use of hand tools, power tools and heavy machinery.
    • Computer skills.
    • Internet search skills required to find necessary information relating to equipment information.
  3. Abilities:

    • Ability to train and coach other Construction Service Technicians on proper industry processes
    • Proficient in Hydronics, Gas Heating, Air Conditioning, make up air units, exhaust systems, and electrical wiring diagrams.
    • General knowledge of VRF systems, BAS controls, and water source heat pumps.
    • Ability to learn new equipment and technology on the go
  4. Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

    • Extreme hot or cold environments with the potential of rain, snow, and high wind.
    • Work space could be limited to tight and belly crawl accessible to walking on trusses in attics. Heights are guaranteed and the need to work from ladders and power operated lifts. Work around high and low voltage
      power sources. Equipment encased in sharp metal boxes.
    • You will encounter and be around extreme hot and extreme cold systems and equipment. Working around and sometimes with highly flammable or sometimes corrosive chemicals.
    • Job requires safe and clear headed thinking. Heavy lifting, rigging and cranes are likely to be used.
