The Sheet Metal Journeyman Installer is responsible for supervising and installation of new sheet metal and equipment on new or existing projects. This includes RTU’s, MUA’s, HP’s, Furnace’s, EF’s, FCU’s, and AHU’s.

Position Duties:
- Available by phone from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm for any coordination with Field Supervisor. Hours required on the job are from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm Monday through Friday (depending on job). Available to work occasional overtime & weekends if needed.
- Coordinate and communicate with the Field Superintendent, Purchasing, Shop Manager, and Warehouse Manager to assure materials are acquired well in advance and setup for delivery for efficiency. The Sheet Metal Journeyman Installer should limit office visits to design questions.
- The Sheet Metal Journeyman Installer can run and complete projects in a timely and efficient manner. The Sheet Metal Journeyman Installer paperwork should be clear, complete and submitted in a timely manner. The
Sheet Metal Journeyman Installer is a representative of Rogers & Sons and must be capable of communicating well with customers. This includes owner training and offering their expertise in upselling items that benefit
the customers including efficiency up grades, PM’s, etc. The Sheet Metal Journeyman Installer must be capable of training these same skills to other Installers and Apprentices and setting the example for them. - The Sheet Metal Journeyman Installer should know and understand how the project estimates are put together. The Sheet Metal Journeyman Installer is responsible for working with the Project Managers and Field Superintendents to ensure that all projects assigned come in at or under budget. The Sr. SM Installer is responsible for setting the installation goals for themselves and assigned Apprentices to ensure they come in at or under budget. The Sheet Metal Journeyman Installer is responsible for any project assigned that doesn’t
come in at or under budget and will meet with all the employees involved to strategize and come up with a proactive plan to prevent the same mistake in the future. - Responsible for coaching, training, and helping Installers and Apprentices working on assigned projects. The Sheet Metal Journeyman Installer will follow and hold all Rogers & Sons Employees accountable to all the
policies, procedures, and standards of the Company on a daily basis. - Responsible for attending and actively participating in all training classes provided by Rogers & Sons.
- Responsible for weekly vehicle inspections and keeping the vehicle serviced and clean.
- Responsible for adhering to the Rogers & Sons dress code and PPE and ensuring all employees on the site adhere to the same.
- Other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications

Education and Certifications:
- Preferred Minimum of High School diploma or GED.
- Completion of HVAC trade school including Journeyman’s License Preferred.

Experience:
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in the HVAC industry.
- Computer skills including: Microsoft Word, Outlook, Bluebeam, etc.
- Internet search skills to find equipment info.

Abilities:
- Ability to instruct new and existing Installers on department paperwork processes and tool usage.
- Ability to train and coach Installers to the Rogers & Sons standard.
- Proficient in Material Ordering, Gas Heating, Air Conditioning, heat
- pumps, VRF, medium temp refrigeration, make up air units, exhaust systems, principles of air flow and duct sizing, layout of duct, duct take off, basic electrical and wiring diagrams. This includes methods for hanging equipment and hoods, venting of equipment, and submittal verification.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
- Extreme hot or cold environments with the potential of rain, snow, and high wind.
- Work space could be limited to tight and confined spaces, accessible to walking on trusses in attics. Heights are guaranteed and the need to work from ladders and power operated lifts.
- Work around high and low voltage power sources. Equipment encased in sharp metal boxes with moving parts.
- You will encounter and be around extreme hot and extreme cold
- systems and equipment. Working around and sometimes with highly flammable or sometimes corrosive chemicals.
- Job requires safe and clear headed thinking. Heavy lifting, rigging and cranes are likely to be used.
